Daughters of Dorcas

The Daughters of Dorcas was established in 1984 at Oak Grove Christian Church. The name comes from Acts 9:36-43.  In the passage Dorcas, a Christian woman at Joppa, spent all her time doing good and helping the poor.

All the ladies of the church are invited and encouraged to attend the Daughters of Dorcas meetings.  Monthly meetings are held the second Monday of the month (except during the summer) at 6:30 PM in the Family Life Center.

These meetings include a variety of presentations and refreshments.  The Daughters of Dorcas coordinate several important ministries in conjunction with the monthly service teams for special activities throughout the year.

Full of Good Works

The  ladies of Daughters of Dorcas made tied fleece blankets for our shut-ins and have started a Jar Ministry to serve our widows and widowers.  In the Jar Ministry, widows and widowers receive a meal in a jar every third Sunday.  It may be soup, stew, turkey and gravy along with a dessert and bread to compliment the meal.
